England found itself victorious over Pakistan at the Oval after a forfeit. Tha Pakistan team (Mohammad Hafeez , Imran Farhat , Younis Khan , Mohammad Yousuf, Inzamam-ul-Haq, Faisal Iqbal , Kamran Akmal, Shahid Nazir, Mohammad Asif, Umar Gul and Danish Kaneria) forfeited the game against English team (Trescothick, Strauss, Cook, Pietersen, Collingwood, Bell, Read, Mahmood, Hoggard, Harmison and Panesar) after feeling aggrieved by the award of five penalty runs for alleged interference with the ball to England. The team had continued playing until tea, when the umpires went to the middle to review the situation. Since the Pakistan captain had not shown, nor any of the team members, the umpires saw they did not want to play and forfeited. Later it was known that the extra time to the tea had come to let the players calm down after being so aggravated about the “mistakes” of awarding penalties. Nevertheless, the Pakistan team lost over forfeit to England, a match that marks the lead over the English team.
