HOLANDESES EN COLOMBIA Y ESTUDIANDO
15 jun 06Si, es cierto. Este semestre tuvimos la oportunidad de compartir nuestros salones de clase en la Universidad Politécnico Grancolombiano con dos holandeses que se convirtieron en toda una experiencia tanto académica como personal.
Contrario a lo que cualquier persona pensaría, hay un auge de extranjeros ingresando a nuestro país para estudiar; porque pese a los reproches y constantes quejas que todos solemos tener frente a nuestro sistema de educación; el nivel del mismo es visto por otros países como uno de los de mas calidad sino el primero de la región e incluso de muchos países desarrollados. Razón por la que es un destino preferido por varios estudiantes del mundo, además de haber un ingrediente de economía en el resto de gastos implicados en el intercambio.
El hecho fue que estudiar y en un principio compartir la cultura de educación que hay en la universidad, fue una sensación extraña y muy enriquecedora; pero luego la costumbre y la misma interacción hizo que dejara de ser una relación netamente académica y se cruzaran sentimientos de amistad y sinceridad, acabando con prejuicios que como comprobamos son eso no mas prejuicios un tanto absurdos sobre el arribismo, prepotencia y poco calor humano europeo sobretodo.
Con sinceridad, y por el conocimiento y causa que nos hizo cambiar este parecer; invitamos a aquellos que también se dedicaban o nos dedicamos o en fin… a criticar y juzgar cada cosa sin argumentos sobretodo de nuestro país; a que nos demos cuenta que no todo es pesar, no todo es malo, perverso y negativo. Aquellos que todavía no creen en nuestro país, no le tienen fe y no ven mas allá de lo que puede pensar un extranjero maravillado con nuestros paisajes y gente, abran la mente, denle paso al sentido de pertenencia y a brindar y mostrar la imagen que si es mayoría.
Aquí apartes de nuestras conversaciones inolvidables y valiosas con nuestros nuevos amigos en Holanda: Wander y Wietse; que demuestran en algunas de sus palabras lo que muchas veces ni nosotros mismos alcanzamos a valorar, y además dejan clara su experiencia académica con nosotros en la universidad.
* For the people who are interested to know, what is the most important thing they learnt here? THE LANGUAGE; because it is the good legacy of studying in a foreign country.
* EDUCATION: According with the education system in general, it is for them an organized system. “Colombian people study harder but less here than in Netherland”. On the other hand, the national educational system requires too much history, too much material, a lot of reading; because in their country they never read an specific thing only some parts and it is also free, not mandatory like here in the majority of the cases. Furthermore, the most difficult challenge was the “stupid quizzes” for which they needed to study many times to cover a topic in a subject; in this sense they were really disappointed with that because it does not mean that an student work; in their system they never have a set of grades to evaluate, on the contrary they manages “ tutorials”. Our Colombian English level is pretty good and the schedule is really hard and excessive.
* BUSINESS:” In Netherland, everybody make business, here only you need money”
* SECURITY:“ Very good” it means , they never had any problem.
*CULTURE: they said the people here tried to appreciate when they talked in Spanish; but sometimes they had felt like ET because everybody were seeing them. Bogotá is a good city with a lot of pollution but with good places to dance; the dancing culture is other important thing they explore and enjoy every Friday. Meanwhile, they have respect for the students who work and study at the same time because they don’t made that.
